Post-Brexit Trade Shifts Are Reshaping Malta-UAE Structuring Decisions

Post-Brexit Trade Shifts Are Reshaping Malta-UAE Structuring Decisions
Several years on from the UK's departure from the EU, its trading relationship with the European Union continues to evolve, and we're seeing that evolution shape how UK-connected businesses use Malta specifically as a gateway between UK, European, and Gulf markets.
A UK company that once relied on passporting rights it no longer has access to directly now frequently structures its EU-facing activity through a Malta entity instead, while using a UAE structure to reach Gulf markets from the same base. The result is a genuinely three-way structuring conversation, UK, Malta or wider EU, and UAE, that didn't exist in quite the same form before Brexit.
We're advising a growing number of UK-originated clients on exactly this kind of structure, treating Malta's EU membership as a genuine substitute for the direct UK-EU market access many of these businesses have lost.
